Urban Permaculture Design Internship - Winter / Spring 2013
This curriculum-based, community focused Urban Permaculture Design Internship, facilitated by Jay Rosenberg, is aimed at fast-tracking the development of urban permaculture-based knowledge in a wide range of specific subjects. This is an ideal way to get started on a career as an urban permaculture designer and/or participate in permaculture projects worldwide. Classes are held at Hayes Valley Farm on the first and third Sundays of the month for six months. Along with the 60 hours in the classroom, students will participate in 60 hours of hands-on projects and activities that are designed to enhance the learning experience and tailored for the interest, ability and schedule of the individual.
Design Internships
One design internship is geared more towards product design students with an interest in designing the overall user experience of visitors and volunteers. The other internship is geared more towards visual communication students with an interest in designing large and small scale information visual graphics to tell the story of the farm and what it does, such as a timeline and an overall graphic that incorporates multiple elements. These internships would be a unique opportunity to get hands-on experience in a unique, dynamic project, as well as a chance to produce portfolio-ready pieces.
Social Media Activism Internship
This internship is a 10 hr/week commitment, for a minimum of 12 weeks. We are looking for someone who is eager to make a difference, using technology to build networks and connections between members of our community. The internship can be molded to fit whatever aspects you are excited to learn about.
Community Building & Marketing Internship
This internship position is for an active self-starter who wants to learn more about how to use online media as a networking and marketing device. And someone who wants to sharpen their skills in event planning and marketing. This internship is a 10 hr/week commitment, for a minimum of 12 weeks.
