Directors Christopher Burley Chris Burley is a social entrepreneur especially adept at building groundbreaking organizations around shared values and bold visions. Having fulfilled diverse leadership roles in organizations such as CouchSurfing International, UCSF School of Medicine and MyFarm his experiences in strategic planning, operations, human resources and marketing have been both broad and deep. As Co-Founder and Co-Director of Hayes Valley Farm in San Francisco, he thrives on working with people to develop regenerative relationships with the planet and each other. He is inspired to create an abundant and resilient food system for all of the San Francisco Bay Area to enjoy.
Chris will be accountable for overall project direction and lead operations of the urban farm areas dedicated to intensive vegetable production. He will work with urban farmers being ultimately responsible for the daily operation and activation of the site. These farmers will also serve as garden educators. A portion of the produce grown on site will be donated to project volunteers and local meals programs.
David Cody David will lead the Hayes Valley Farm Education Program, organizing classes and workshops year round. David will coordinate the design and construction of the urban farm food production and soil building areas. He will promote and implement education in systems design on site and co-facilitate Permaculture courses. He will lend his inventive expertise in the development of closed-loop systems and cutting edge low-technologies. Along with Chris Burley, David will be responsible for the daily operation and activation of the site. David brings a long history of "do-it-yourself" endeavors to the table. There is no project too small or too large for David. He's continually searching for a better way to design even the most seemingly unnoticed aspects of life ... and to the benefit of everyone. He's recently spent much of his sustainable urban food systems energy at 18th and Rhode Island Permaculture Demonstration garden where he shares his passion for ecosystem design with others. David is a supporting leader of the San Francisco Permaculture Guild and co-facilitates Permaculture trainings with Kevin Bayuk.
