Description:

Join us on Sunday for an introductory discussion about honey bees, beekeeping and the roles honey bee colonies will play at Hayes Valley Farm. Karen Peteros, co-founder of San Francisco Bee-Cause and past-President of the SF Beekeepers Association, will lead the discussion and respond to your questions (and concerns) about these amazing creatures. Hayes Valley Farm is an education and research project with a focus on urban agriculture. The farm is located in the center of San Francisco, where the Central Freeway used to connect with Fell and Oak Streets prior to the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989. San Francisco Bee-Cause is a Hayes Valley Farm partner (http://www.sfbeecause.org). The mission of SFBC is to use urban apiculture to further causes that help San Francisco residents, to increase the pollen and nectar resources needed by San Francisco’s native and honey bees, and to educate the public about the importance of bees to our urban ecosystems.ts.
