On Thursday, a Hayes Valley Farm volunteer and Permaculture Bootcamp graduate turned their passion into productive power. Wes Frey, in a matter of hours converted trash destined pallets into a beautiful throne which will comfort and provide a relaxing resting space for many members to come.

This is such a great way to use these pallets that I see everywhere here in the city, usually just sitting on the curb or in the corner of some parking lot. Wes and I actually need more furniture for our apartment, and now he can build us some and we can paint it! Such a fun project!! And way to reduce "waste"!

Great way to practice the permaculture principle of "Produce no waste"! I see these wodden pallets just about everywhere here in the city, whether they're tucked away in the corner of a parking lot or just sitting on the curb. Now that Wes knows how to make a chair, we are inspired to make and paint more furniture- a coffee table? nightstands? maybe even a bed! Does anyone have a recommendation for an economical and reliable place to get tools?
