This Sunday we will come together to celebrate Hayes Valley Farm’s one year anniversary! We have seen the farm transform over the past year from an abandoned highway ramp to mountains of fertile soil, plants, habitat, and thriving community. Come celebrate the fruits of love and labor that so many dedicated and inspiring individuals have taken part in creating.
Roots to Fruits: Celebrating our First Year of Growth, Sunday at 3:00pm.
Workday will resume as usual at noon and transition into celebration at 3 p.m. We will begin by honoring our directors, who along with the hundreds of volunteers, have made the farm what it is today.
Brothers Jack and Aaron Cox, artists whose craft transcends media, will be painting a mural capturing elements of urban agriculture inside the body of a Red Tail Hawk, a symbol of ecosystemic renewal. Nik Dyer of Purple Carrot will be joining the collaboration to install the mural employing growing space to create abundance, fertility and biodiversity on the farm. This installation will demonstrate the rich edge between art and nature. Be here to witness and participate in the art coming to life.
During the the afternoon you can enjoy live acoustic performances by local artists Even Taylor, as well as the Jugtown Pirates. Back by popular demand, we will have a “free” screen printing station with a limited edition Hayes Valley Farm logo designed by Caroline Acquistapace. Please bring a t-shirt or article of clothing that you want to snaz up with farm décor.
What better way to top off a day of gratitude but by having a potluck?! Please bring a local and healthy dish to share. We will also be firing up the cob oven to make pizza, so bring toppings and accoutrements. Don't forget a plate and fork!
Come celebrate the beauty and abundance that we have all taken part in helping grow on Sunday at 3-5pm. Happy Birthday Hayes Valley Farm!
