The Fall Harvest is a time of abundance, and at Hayes Valley Farm this comes in the form of city-grown vegetables, hyper-local honey, and the seeds from parsley, calendula, broccoli, amaranth, echinacea, and beneficial white clover. Come to a volunteer day to gather seeds for the Hayes Valley Farm community seed library, and help yourself to some cultivars while you're filling the library's coffers.
Planting seeds from Hayes Valley Farm is one of the ways you can support the growth of the local food movement and the health and vibrancy of our communities. In the coming year, Hayes Valley Farm will be transitioning into its next incarnation and physical location. Since January 2010, the City and County of San Francisco has generously let community members activate 2.2 acres, with the understanding that it was for interim use. In that short time, over 10,000 volunteers have created a thriving urban permaculture demonstration farm.
We know what's possible. Now let's do it again -- in an empty lot or front yard near you! Volunteer at the farm to harvest seeds for the future, and get involved with the Hayes Valley Farm transition project.
