As a thank you to the residents of San Francisco for helping Recology divert over 1 million tons of food scraps, plant trimmings and other compostable material from the waste stream and turn it into 600,000 cubic yards of nutrient-rich planting material, the company is giving free compost back to the community this Saturday. Several locations will serve as compost giveaway sites, including Hayes Valley Farm. We are the secret distribution site, not listed on the event page, so no need to RSVP or wait in line. Just bring a bucket and claim your share of fresh, rich compost – up to 5 gallons!
