SOILS 103. Introduction to Compost

Three hours of lecture, discussion, and hands-on outdoor/classroom activity. Students study and explore various concepts of compost systems including building a compost pile, compost theory, food, oxygen, moisture, insulation, troubleshooting, ideas for designing composting systems and closing wastestreams. Demonstration and hands-on activities provide an opportunity for students to design and build their own compost systeming. Lectures and hands-on introduce students to techniques and varied applications. There are no prerequisites to take this class.


Instructors: Aimee Hill and Jay Rosenberg


Cost and Considerations: The cost for the class is $50, for those who can afford it please do so, for those who cannot we offer work trade and scholarships (enter code "soils2011" at checkout for half price).


No one will be turned away for lack of funds, only lack of passion.
