We will explore the basics of permaculture as applied to the urban setting, and in particular the Hayes Valley Farm site. This introductory class could quite possible be one of the most important classes you take, because we begin to connect all the disparate dots together to form the kind of solutions everyone is looking for in order to pave a path for a sustainable future.

This three hour class is open to everyone and will start ay 10:00 am sharp. Please try to arrive between 9:30 am and 9:45 am if you want to ensure you are on time.

Instructors: David McConville and David Stockhausen

Dave McConville

While attending a visioning workshop 3 years ago, Dave McConville was introduced to permaculture and has been studying, teaching and practicing it ever since. After taking his first Permaculture Design Course and Permacutlure Teacher Training Course he spent time designing and working on his 1/3rd of an acre urban lot back in NH. Interested in continuing to learn he has taken various workshops on topics such as Urban Permaculture, Food Forests and Homescale Permaculture. Since moving to SF last fall he’s become a member of the SF Permaculture Guild, a core volunteer at Hayes Valley Farm, organizer of SF Glean and involved with Transition SF.

David Stockhausen

David Stockhausen knows his urban agriculture, after successfully running an urban farming business out of mission backyards to provide food for local restaurants he sought to expand his understanding of creating sustainable food systems. He went on to study permaculture, traveling to Australia, Vietnam and around California gleaning best practices from some of the most knowledgeable folks in the movement. David loves to teach, share and laugh. Join him to laugh, learn and live a better future.
