Hayes Valley Farm is a dynamic setting, drawing folks in with our volunteer days, classes and events.  We are a place for farming, growing food, and growing community, combining both hands-on farming with 21st century community building strategies.  We are currently seeking interns who want to learn to use social media to change the world, and are ready to jump in and do it.

The position includes but is not limited to the following:

  • Gathering/developing content for the Hayes Valley Farm website
  • Writing farm related blog posts
  • Building alliances with other organizations
  • Identifying media outlets/blogs to cross-post blog entries (syndicate content)
  • Compiling publications and developing presentation materials to tell the story of the farm
  • Documenting urban agriculture techniques that can be used on other physical sites

Qualifications and Experience:

We seek someone who has some basic skills but would like to learn more in the following areas:

  • Facebook and Twitter
  • Photography, basic design tools
  • Strong interest in urban agriculture and social change
  • Communication skills

This internship is a 10 hr/week commitment, for a minimum of 12 weeks.  We are looking for someone who is eager to make a difference, using technology to build networks and connections between members of our community.  The internship can be molded to fit whatever aspects you are excited to learn about.
